WhatsApp Now Using Storytelling as a Medium

whats app storyWhatsApp is one of the most famous and popular messaging apps. With hundreds of millions of active users, it has become the top downloaded app across all platforms. Apple, Android, Windows and more platforms support this insanely successful messaging app. Recently you may have heard about Facebook’s purchase of this app for a whopping $19 billion US. But there have been some recent changes on WhatsApp. Lately, this app is being used as a medium for storytelling. How does it work? Two people have a conversation and then that is turned into a story. To get a better idea of how this works, go to storiesforyourscreen website.

There are many ‘stories’ (which are actually real chats) that you can read. Most of them are compelling and really draw the readers in. The first story there is called “The creepiest chat history you’ll ever read”. I read this and couldn’t stop until the story was over. It really does seemed like a story, even though it’s just a normal conversation between two people on WhatsApp.

One of the main reasons why WhatsApp is being used as a medium for storytelling may be because it is such a popular app, and many weird, funny, strange but interesting conversations are going on every second. Why not take them and turn them into stories people can read? WhatsApp is looking to expand its interface. The recent purchase by Facebook is bound to bring changes and improvements to the app that will change it from a messaging app to a complete social network messaging app. Most of the stories I read on storiesforyourscreen were quite interesting. Maybe this is just the beginning of new things to come from WhatsApp, and by the looks of it, we should be excited to see what they have in store for us in the future.
