You will soon be able to share all File Formats on WhatsApp

These days, there so many things you can share with your contacts on WhatsApp that it is easy to take it for granted. The app supports sharing of PDF, Office documents, photos, videos, and audio files.

However, there are some file formats the instant messaging app does not yet support. That is going to chance if the tests the company is running in beta is anything to go by.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature and improvement that will enable users to share just about any file formats. The pilot program has currently enrolled just a few number of WhatsApp users in the beta program to iron out some bugs before rolling it out to everyone.

In the meantime, the rest of us who have not been lucky enough to be enrolled to the platform shall have to make do with other third party app when sending unsupported file formats. For those lucky enough to be inside the ring of beta testers, the maximum size of file they can send is 100MB on Android, 128MB on iOS and 64MB on desktop.

Although reports emerging from these beta testers suggest that sharing some files (especially big files) is slower than usual. Then again, they are beta testers, and such ‘bugs’ are to be expected until the feature rolls over to the stable channel.
