Windows Phone to get Windows 10 Creators Update on April 25

windows 10 creators update

With a little over a week to until the rollout of the Windows 10 Creators Update to PCs, Microsoft has announced that Windows Phone will be up next in line. The company announced April 25th to be the expected date for the roll out of Creators Update to Windows Phones.

Earlier, Microsoft had confirmed that Windows Phone will get the Creators Update but had not picked a definitive date for the roll out. Microsoft statement announcing the roll our reads in part as follows:

Windows Phone will follow the same phased approach, with rollout scheduled to being April 25th. Note that update availability may vary by manufacturer, model, country or region, mobile operator or service provider, specific installed software, hardware limitations and other factors such as feedback from customers.”

It is important to note that the April 25th is a ‘scheduled’ roll out date, subject to whether or not Microsoft will be ready on time. If not, you can expect the date to be pushed forward, but chances of that are slim.

New features in Creators Update for Windows Phone

Well, there is nothing much coming to Windows Phone with the Creators Update that should warrant a lot of excitement. However, there will be some small improvements on Cortana, Windows Store, and Microsoft Edge, but even on those, there is nothing overwhelmingly exciting to write home about.

Nonetheless, the Creators Update is laying the ground for a huge and better upgrade what will come with Windows 10 Redstone 3. That will come with a lot of significant new features and upgrades like multi-window support on Continuum among others.
