With Facebook’s Latest App Riff, You Can Now Edit Videos With Friends

It all started with status updated, and then came picture updates, and now Facebook is aggressively pursuing video updates. According to Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg more people on the platform are sharing videos on the social network, and he now want to enhance their experience while doing so.

The app was officially launched on app stores this Monday, giving users a fun, easy and social way to create videos on Facebook for users on both Android and iOS devices. The app works like the collaborative experience on Vine, allowing users to create 20 seconds long videos that can be posted on the social network alongside hashtags. Then friends can jump in and attach their own videos, and together they collaboratively create a longer video story.

Josh Miller, a product manager at Facebook said, “The potential pool of creative collaborators can grow exponentially from there, so a short video can become an inventive project between circles of friends that you can share to Facebook, or anywhere on the internet, at any time.”

During Facebook’s F8 Developer Conference held last month, the CEO said video sharing is becoming more popular among users as compared to texts and pictures. The social network is also aggressively trying to compete with YouTube by enabling its video player to be embedded on various platforms over the internet.
