WorldRemit the London-based online peer to peer money transfer service has partnered with Tanzania’s TigoPesa to enable the Diaspora to send money to families and friends living in Tanzania easily via their smartphones, tablets and computers.

Currently, WorldRemit is available in more than 35 countries and can facilitate money transfers to over a 100 destinations through credit or debit card or bank transfer. Tanzanian recipients get their money either through mobile wallet, airtime top-up for their phones, cash pickup/delivery or bank deposit.

I am delighted that WorldRemit is now able to offer TigoPesa as a way of receiving money in Tanzania. Today people use their money in lots of different ways and financial services need to respond to that,” said Ismail Ahmed, WorldRemit’s CEO.

Ahmed also said that WorldRemit gives uses as many money transfers options as possible, ranging from bank accounts, cash pickups, mobile wallets and airtime top-up. The range of choices and flexibility suits the demand of the modern people living in a connected world. By WorldRemit partnering TigoPesa, this  will provide another avenue for the diaspora to remit money to their loved ones back home.
