Yale University to collaborate with Kenyan Research Institutions to drive Innovation

Yale University President, Peter Salovey, is set to visit Nairobi mid this month. During his trip, Salovey is expected to sign deals with Kenyan food and medical research agencies and the Mara Conservancy.

In a press statement issued late last week, the Ivy League U.S. varsity said that Prof Salovey will visit other key research institutions in Kenya including the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Kenyan Agricultural Research Organization (KALRO), the Mara Conservancy and the National Museums of Kenya.

Prof. Salovey jets into the country on March 14, and it will mark the first time a senior official from Yale University to have ever visited Kenya. Although before coming to Kenya, he will make a stop in Ghana first.

In Kenya, they will be convening a symposium on Power of Partnership in Strengthening University Research. It will be co-hosted with the African Academy of Sciences,” said the organizers in a statement.

When ranking the number of African students enrolling into the Yale University, it is from Kenya most of the students come from. One notable alumnus of the University who is also a seasoned public servant is Central Bank of Kenya Governor, Patrick Njoroge who holds a Ph.D. in economics.

The Oscar winner actor Lupita Nyong’o is also another Kenyan who is an alumnus of the University. Lupita earned her Master’s degree in acting from the Yale University.

The University has also partnered with the local Strathmore Business School through their common membership into the Global Network for Advanced Management. A respected group consisting of 32 top business schools in the world.

The Global Network for Advanced Management aims at fostering collaboration to drive innovation.

They will also co-host a town hall on ‘Leadership and Impact’ with Strathmore University as they welcome Strathmore Business School to the Global Network for Advanced Management the first network member from the East Africa region,” read a statement from the group.
