Fix Can’t Delete Video Files in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7

A lot of Windows 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7 users have reported a problem that they cannot delete a video file from Windows explorer or any other location. This happens with only a few videos files. Users say that video files just won’t go away. Even if the icon is deleted, it continues to take space.

2- If you can’t delete a video file in Windows, chances are that some third party app or different processes are making the CPU and RAM usage haywire. The best solution is to close all the apps that are running. You can end all the processes by going to Task Manager (Control+Alt+Del). You can also restart your computer to clear the cache and then try to delete the video. Mostly, the problematic video files are in Windows explorer. It’s better to “End Task” on the complete Windows

3- Another problem while deleting the problematic files in Windows is that when the issue starts, the file doesn’t move away. You cannot copy and paste it somewhere else. The best way then is to delete the entire folder. Just type “del” and then press the spacebar once. The drag and drop the troubled file which won’t get deleted. But you will need to close the Windows Explorer to release the lock on all files in use, so you should close Explorer windows and open up Task Manager with the key combination Ctrl-Shift-Esc. Switch to the Processes tab. Now search for the file explorer.exe, select it and click on End Task. Now switch to your command prompt windows and then hit Enter.
