How to Boost Chrome Browser Download Speeds and Reliability

google chrome

Much has been said about today’s generation, much of it being negative. My personal favorite line is that ‘We’re a microwave generation.’

That is to say; we want things quick and fast. This article is going to show you when being patient is actually not a virtue but a blessing. Say you want to download something from the internet.

When you are downloading something off the internet, do you really want to be virtuous and show off just how patient you can be? I don’t think so, and in fact, I do not encourage such types of lame virtues. If anything, you need to boost your download speeds.

Boost Chrome Browser Download Speeds

All factors held constant – ceteris paribus – there is a little hack you can do to your Chrome browser to make it extra reliable and faster in downloading stuff. Without much fluffs and blurbs, let us dig into the Chrome flags.

  • Step 1: Go to the address bar on your Chrome browser and type in chrome://flags
  • Step 2: Hit Enter on your keyboard, and a list of experimental Chrome features will appear.
  • Step 3: On the Search Bar, type in the word parallel
  • Step 4: The option Parallel downloading will come up. At the far end, you will get a dropdown selection option
  • Step 5: Select the Enabled option and then click the Relaunch button.

What it Does

After following the steps above, you will boost Chrome download speeds and its ability to pick up downloads where it left off in case of an internet connection drop.

So yes, this trick will give you some of the cool features you get from Internet Download Manager. This tip is especially useful for users on macOS and Linux, which do not officially support IDM.
