How to Ensure Ethernet Connection is Enabled on Your PC

If you are using Ethernet connection for your internet needs, then I am certain that you have encountered situations where it stops working.

Usually, in this situations, a simple reboot of your router could help resolve the problem. Alternatively, checking the Ethernet cable and ensuring that it’s not faulty is another way.

You also will check its connection to your PC and the router.

However, sometimes, what if the Ethernet cable works on other devices, but seems not to work on your specific device?

Well, then that could only mean one thing – the Ethernet connection is disabled on that particular PC.

Thus, here is how to enabled Ethernet connection on your PC if you suspect that it is disabled.

  1. Got to the Start menu and then right click on it.
  2. You will get a menu of available options. Scroll up until you find Device Manager.
  3. Click on it to and it will open a new window which will have a list of all hardware inputs of your PC.
  4. Expand the Network Adapters Then locate your Ethernet network adapter.
  5. Check to see if there is a small arrow pointing downwards besides its name. Seeing this arrow means than the Ethernet connection is disabled.
  6. To enable it, right click on the network adapter and the choose Enable Device.
  7. After this, go and check to see if the Ethernet is working on the device.

You can also update the Ethernet Adapter Drivers.

Simply right-click the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand the Network Adapters then right click on the Ethernet adapter driver and select Update Driver.

After this, select Browse My Computer for Drivers. Then go to the Downloads folder and select the downloaded driver file. Then let Windows update it.

You can also uninstall then reinstall. Simply go to the Device Manager again. Right-click on the driver and then select Uninstall Device. Then follow the previous instructions to reinstall it manually.
