Sometimes, it might not be enough to do simple troubleshooting on a program on your PC and thus, some advanced troubleshooting is needed.
EXE files (often represented as .exe on the PC) is in full called executable files and is a filename extension which denotes the main execution point of a computer program. This means that they are used to install and run software.
So, if you are having trouble with a program or the PC and want to locate the EXE file for whatever you desire, here is how to find it.
- First find the shortcut which points to the program whose EXE file you want to find. So, if you want to access Chrome’s EXE files, right-click on Chrome on your desktop and then select Properties. If the program is on the taskbar, right-click it, then right-click its name again in the menu. You will then get Properties.
If the program is on the Start menu, click on Start. Then find your program then right-click on the ‘Start’ menu shortcut for the application. Then select More>Open file location. This will open a File Explorer window which points to the actual application shortcut file. Right click on that shortcut, then select Properties.
- Once you have expanded on Properties, select the Shortcut tab and then click on Open File Location.
- This process will take you directly to the EXE location of the program in the File Explorer.
- And there you have it – you now have reached the EXE file on the program you desire.
