How to Upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10 and How to Download Windows 11

If you have a PC and want to upgrade to the Windows 11, then you could consider buying a new PC with Windows already installed.

However, if your PC meets all the requirements to download and run Windows 11, why shell out money for a new machine when you can get Windows 11 for free?

Here is how to Upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10

If you have a PC running Windows 10, here is how to upgrade it to Windows 11:

  1. In Windows 10, click Start and then type Windows Update. Then select Windows Update Settings.
  2. Click Check for Updates. If Windows 11 is available for download, you will get Feature update to Windows 11 Click on Download and install. Restart your PC if prompted.
  3. If the PC has less than 128GB of HDD space, you will be prompted to connect a USB flash drive. Use a blank USB flash drive of 32GB or larger. The old windows files will be stored here in case you decide to revert to Windows 10.

Before doing this however, make sure that you back-up your important files and create a recovery media. You could save them to a different USB drive from the one you are using for installation.

If, on the other hand, you have a new PC and want to install Windows 11 on it, here is how to go about it:

  1. Of course, check for compatibility of the PC with Windows 11. If it’s not compatible with Windows 11, you can always download Windows 10.
  2. If your PC is compatible, insert and empty USB flash drive (at least 32 GB), then proceed to Windows 11 download page. Find a section called Create Windows 11 Installation Media.
  3. Click Download now.
  4. When the file finishes, run it and click
  5. You will be asked to choose the language you want Windows 11. Click Next.
  6. Select USB flash drive to select the media to use. Then click Next. At this time, unplug any other drive that may be connected to your PC to avoid deletion of items you won’t want deleted.
  7. Windows 11 will begin downloading and the files with be transferred to your flash drive. Once done, the drive will be ready for use as an installation media.
