Individual Contact Notification Tones Disappeared After Updating to Oreo in Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8-plus

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus users are facing an issue after they updated their phones to Oreo software. The users are facing the problem of individual contact notifications being disappeared. After the Oreo update, all the tones have been set to default tone and they are unable to set a customized message tone for specific contacts. Unfortunately, the individual contact notification has been removed in the Oreo update and the users are not happy about it. Samsung Messages Version 4.4.30.5

To get the individual contact notification tone back in Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus, google search ‘Samsung Messages Version 4.4.30.5.’ Next, download the .apk and enable internet app installation. Once the installation is completed, you can set individual contact notification tone. The notification is set on a per-conversation basis, which means if you delete a text thread, the custom tone setting would be restored back to default tone.

Textra App

It is the best and highly customizable third-party messaging App that lets you set individual contact notification tone. Open Textra App and choose the conversation you want to set an individual tone for. Now, tap on the arrow down icon on the top-right corner to launch its settings. In the Settings, go to Customize and then Notifications. Next, tap on Notification Sounds and select a ringtone you want to set as individual contact notification tone.

Verizon Message

If you are using Verizon Message instead of the default messaging App, you can easily set the individual contact notification tone. In the Verizon Message App, go to its menu (the three dots on the top right corner). In the menu, go to customize and then tones. Under the tones tab, set individual contact notification tone.

Android Messages App

Another third-party App you can try to set individual contact notification tone is the Android Messages App. Go to the App and open the conversation you want to set a custom tone for. Now, tap on the three dots on the top-right corner to launch its settings. Go to People & Options and then Notifications. Next, tap on Sounds and select a ringtone you want to set as individual contact notification tone. Finally, save the settings.
