Torrenters have been left out in the cold for some months now, after a U.S. Government-led crackdown and shutdown of what was (at the time) the world largest torrent site. Kickasstorrents has just been brought back to life right from the graves. The crackdown was by the Homeland Security and the IRS.
It would appear that old staffers of the torrent site did regroup after the shutdown of their earlier site under the domain name Katcr.co. Over the past few months that domain has been their new home, they called their more of their old staffs and together did some housekeeping developments and furnishing. As of now, Kickasstorrents is live again under the new domain Katcr.co and you can start torrenting again.
“The majority of our original Staff, Admins, and Moderation team joined us after Kat.cr went down, which is something we’re very proud of. This shows the loyalty, dedication, and real love for KAT that we all share.” – said a member of the KATcr team.
“We have all our major uploaders on board and they continued to share tirelessly even before the torrent engines returned. The torrent community can continue to expect to see uploads from all the names they know and trust.”
The site looks and feels like the old Kickasstorrents on (Kat.cr), despite the fact that the old site admins and crew were different from the technicians and financial that ran the site. That is to say the guys that ran the old KATcr site, were not the same people with access to its original code and data. Nonetheless, the did a more than decent job in making a Kickasstorrents come back that look and feel like the old one.
At the time of writing this article the site was down, but not because it was brought down again by the law authorities. The traffic to the site was just crazy, and the servers were overwhelmed. I hope that at the time you are reading this the staffer will have it up and running again.
