Nairobi’s Duke Health Hackathon Application Deadline Fast Approaching | Sept 5

Can you code? Are you a health practitioner or an innovator with an idea that can disrupt the Kenyan health sector? If your answer to these questions is yes, you need to attend Nairobi’s premier health hackathon that is set to take place on September 28th.

The Health Hackathon has been organized by the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke (SEAD) in partnership with Innovation in Healthcare. Participants in the hackathon will be tasked to use their technical skills to come up with innovative prototypes that will better health care provision services in East Africa.

The hackathon event will also act as a networking platform bringing together stakeholders from various backgrounds but with a shared interest, technical skill or goal. Therefore, participants should also look forward to the occasion as an opportunity to learn new things and form new bridges over various obstacles they faced before.

The organizers of the hackathon say the event will primarily look at coming up with innovative solutions to combat non-communicable diseases, improving the state of maternal and child health care services.

Nonetheless, they have also called upon individuals with specials skills outside the health care industry not to shy away from the occasion. Innovators from backgrounds such as graphic designing, coding, and health-preneurs among others are highly encouraged to participate.

The deadline form application is fast approaching; September 5th, 2015.

The applicants that will be nominated to participate in the competition will be contacted via email to organize themselves into teams. They winning team will walk away with cash prizes, mentorship opportunity and partnership with stakeholders in the local market that can help them develop their idea further.
