Senator Kamala Harris from California has announced that she has all the intention of seeking the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential race in the United States.
She made this announcement on Martin Luther King Day while she was being interviewed by Good Morning America. Senator Harris further revealed that she intends to launch her campaign at a rally to be held in Oakland, California this weekend.
“I am running for president of the United States. I am very excited about it…
I love my country, and this is a moment in time when I feel a sense of responsibility to stand up and fight for the best of who we are,” said Harris in the interview.

If you have been keeping tabs on Senator Harris, then you might have picked up her intentions for running for the U.S. presidency come 2020 in her book ‘The Truths We Hold: An American Journey’ that was released earlier this year.
American politicians looking to create a wide support base across the vast country sometimes employ book release as a way to reach out in-person to the voters. Already, her campaign team has released a promotional video outlining the theme of Senator Harris candidacy and the slogan ‘For the people.’

That slogan has been the mantra of her public defender career, given she rose up the ranks in courts with the saying, ‘Kamala Harris, for the people.’ Her campaign team has also revealed they will be headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland and have a second office in Oakland, California.
Senator Harris was elected into the Senate in 2016, and she has proven a voice to reckon with when it comes to matters championing women rights and empowerment. She is also an avid advocate for inclusion and diversity that has seen her also fight for people of colors.
