South Africa-based LaunchLab and Nedbank launch FinTech & Big Data Challenge

South Africa’s business incubator LaunchLab, in partnership with Nedbank, has launched the FinTech and Big Data Challenge. The challenge seeks to innovative tech solutions that will disrupt the banking industry in South Africa and the rest of the continent.

The Challenge is looking for submission from tech software solutions developers with products that address either or all of the following challenges:

A solution that leads to use of connected devices (IoT)

Innovative ways of using mobile technology in promoting financial inclusion

Creative ways to bring in more new clients to the banks (e.g. remote client verification)

A product that evokes deeper client engagement with the bank’s products.

The FinTech & Big Data challenge will take place in three phases:

Entering Pitches

Pitching Platform Final

The Challenge Workshop has already begun; the organizers are already engaging the FinTech and Big Data Startup Community. The Challenge is now in the next phase Entering Pitches; where developers can start submitting their pitches for consideration. To submit your pitch, click here.

The winner of the challenge will walk home with $6,000 and a six-month incubation support. A winner will be announced at the final stage of the competition on October 20, 2016, at the Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab.
