Nothing sucks like being stuck in traffic, except being stuck in traffic with your hands on the steering wheel. That means, unlike your passengers, you cannot find other things to keep you distracted and avoid getting irritated by the traffic. Well, Spotify wants you to still listen to your favorite music while you’re behind the wheel without risking getting into an accident.
The must streaming service has been experimenting with ‘Driving Mode’ since 2017. The company has now rolled out the feature widely as ‘Car View.’ It is designed to make navigation easier while using the Spotify app.
What’s in the new Car View
Essentially, the new Car View feature on Spotify makes navigating through your music library easier and safer. It is only available on the native Spotify app, which means users accessing the music streaming service via Google Maps, Waze, and Android Auto will not be able to use it.
When you turn on the Car View, the app’s interface changes making controlling your music easier. The album art is removed, the name of the songs and artists made bigger. The media controls are also more pronounced and you the two Like, and Shuffle buttons have also been enlargened making navigating through your playlist easier.
How to turn on the feature
Launch the Spotify app on your phone, and go to the settings menu where you can turn on or off the new Car View option. When the feature is turned on, and you connect your phone to your car’s Bluetooth, Spotify automatically switches on the Car View.
Spotify started rolling out the feature on January 17, with Android devices being first to get the update, but the rollout is not worldwide. It is still in phases, and there is no official communication as to when it will be available to everyone.
