Accela to Host Civic Tech Networking Event in NYC, March 25

Back in 2012, New York City Mayor Bloomberg laid the foundation for the City to become a leader in open government and civic technology movement. It is little wonder, why New York now prides itself on being a leader on both these two fronts. Bloomberg signed into law perhaps the most comprehensive open data legislation in the United States.

A few weeks ago, Civic Hall launched and became the new home for civic tech and thus tasked to raise the bar. According to a report tabled by IDC, and sponsored by Accela, it is estimated that civic tech expenditure in the United States will reach $6.4 million in 2015. It has also been found that New Yorkers use technology and open data to make their neighborhoods, city, and the government, work more efficiently and create businesses that are in line with the new civic.

For these reasons, Accela has announced it will be hosting its Civic Tech Cocktail Party at Fraunces Tavern Museum, NYC, on Wednesday, March 25th from 6pm-9:30pm.

Faurnces Tavern is Manhattan’s oldest building that has stood the test of time. During America’s revolutionary war, it served as the base of operation for George Washington. It was also the place where America held peace talks with the British. It also marks the place where General Washington made his famous farewell address to his officer at the end of the war.

Come March 25th, at Fraunces Tavern, NYC. Accela’s Technical Evangelist and former Chief Data Officer for the City of Philadelphia and Rob Cassetti, Accela’s SVP of Sales and Marketing, who will be hosting the event. Additionally, they will give you an overview of NYC-based Accela projects.
