Did you know today, Google Play Store turns five? In fact, Google is celebrating the fifth anniversary Google Play Store by giving you discounted rates of books purchased; the books must be worth $5 and above.

If you haven’t been using Android for long, or not privy of Google’s app store, the news that Google Play Store is now five years old might seem confusing. Given that Android phones have been around for longer than five years, so how where were people getting their Google-approved apps?

Well, what you now know as Google Play Store was formerly known as the Android Market. When Google replaced Android Market with Play Store, it rolled out an update to the former giving way to the latter. All Android devices users at the time must have received the update, and five years down the road few remember Android Market as it was formerly called.

Perhaps not all Android devices received the update, and you must be using an old Android device to see the Android Market app still. The phone must also not have been updated in the last half a decade.

Be that as it may, you can purchase a book from Google Play Store, $5 off if it cost over $5.
