The ghost of Kevin Spacey’s past has come to haunt him fervently, leading to Netflix firing him. Yes, that is right! Netflix has fired the House of Cards star actor Kevin Spacey.
This news comes hot on the heels of last week’s news that Netflix will be shutting down further production of House of Cards. The streaming service said it reached that decision independent of the news that broke out with Anthony Rapp alleging that Spacey made sexual advances towards him.
“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey” said a Netflix spokesperson.
Media Rights Capital (MRC) and Netflix were already working on the release of the sixth season of House of Cards when news of alleged sexual advances by Spacey on Rapp came out from a BuzzFeed interview.
In response to this news, Spacey came out as a gay man on Twitter. A move that had a backlash as people criticized Spacey for attempting to divert the attention from the accusations facing him. Not long before that, MRC and Netflix made a public statement saying Season Six will be the finality of House of Cards.
