It is now about four months since Windows users got Windows 10 OS on their laptops, tablets and desktop PCs. However, Microsoft is yet to release the final build of Windows 10 Mobile officially.
Microsoft has already released the Windows 10 Mobile Preview (10586 build), released on November 18th. The mobile operating system looks like the RTM version of Windows 10 Mobile. Although the Windows 10 Mobile 10586 build brings no new features to users, it has been streamlined to give better user experience with its fixes.
Take, for instance, the garbled Start screen users experience after they installed the 10581 build. This fix allows users to set the default locations by going to Settings > System > Storage. The other problem of time delay when resuming or when switching between different apps has also been fixed. Additionally, you can now move apps to microSD storage without the apps crashing when you are using them.
Smartphones that support Windows 10 Mobile
The recently released Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones came with Windows 10 preinstalled. The OS will also be available to the recently announced Lumia 550 budget smartphone. For the rest of Lumia series smartphones, they will get the Windows 10 Mobile update come December this year.
Orange, the mobile service carrier has also revealed that the Lumia 830, Lumia 735, Lumia 640 and Lumia 630 will be the first set of devices that will get the Windows 10 Mobile OS from Dec. 14. This batch will soon be followed by a second batch comprising of Lumia 1030, Lumia 1020, Lumia 930, Lumia 925, Lumia 720, Lumia 625, and Lumia 532. They will get the OS come February 1st, 2016.
You should note that only the Lumia series with the Lumia Denim build and at least 8GB internal storage space are eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade. You should also know that not all handsets will be able to support all the full features that come with Windows 10.
