An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale has hit 100 miles out of the coast of Northern California today. The U.S Geological Survey has confirmed the magnitude of the quake.
To calm everybody’s nerves, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has confirmed the earthquake is not powerful enough to trigger the destructive and dreaded tsunami. There are also no reported incidences of reported damage, injuries, or deaths.
The epicenter of the quake is said to be so close to the surface; 7.5 miles down to be precise. The people that felt the quake the most were the residents of Ferndale, California; a town of about 1,300 residents and some cattle.
Ferndale is located some 120 miles south of Oregon and 250 miles north of San Francisco. There are claims on Twitter of people in San Francisco reporting to have felt the quake.
