Hellofood Bags the “Best E-Commerce Site” Award At the Digital Impact Awards
Three of Africa Internet Holding companies were nominated for the “Best E-Commerce Site” awards at the inaugural Digital Impact Awards that was held in Kampala, Uganda. These companies were Kaymu, Jumia, and Hellofood. Hellofood won the nominations and took home the prize.
This was the first year for the Digital Impact Awards to be held, and the venue for the awards was at the Sheraton Kampala. The goal of this award was to acknowledge and reward companies that showcase innovation on how they utilize the digital mediums to enhance their customers’ experience.
The winners of the awards were selected by a jury made up of outstanding entrepreneurs, academics, consultants, policy makers, innovators and thought leaders. The award categories took into account the span the domains of web, mobile, cyber security, digital financial services and social media.
It is important to point out that this is not the first time for Hellofood to bag such a prestigious award. Back in June, the company alongside its affiliated brand Foodpanda, won the “Best E-Commerce Startup” at the European Tech StartUp Awards. Their latest award only serves to reinforce the position of the brand as a leading player in the online food ordering business. This also marks a milestone achievement for Hellofood Uganda, given it was incepted in January, 2014.
“This is a fantastic achievement for Hellofood Uganda, and we are very proud to be recognized by the jury,” said, Francis Voet, Country Manager for Hellofood Uganda. “We’ve already experienced eight months of solid growth, and plan on building on this in the future to strengthen our market-leading position and to continue to provide the best service to our growing number of customers.”
