HelloFood Raises $60 Million Towards Signing Up More Restaurants
Rocket Internet’s HelloFood has raised $60 million from a group of investors in addition to its existing investors that include the Falcon Edge Capital and Rocket Internet AG.
HelloFood/FoodPanda, now has a presence in more than 40 countries across the five continents. The $60m raised will used to make it easy for local restaurants in its numerous markets increase their delivery sales and improve its customer care services for all of its online orders and coordination of delivery with the restaurants.
“The new funding will be invested in continuous growth in our existing markets, by partnering with even more restaurants in more cities and further improving customer service. We want to establish ourselves as the market-leading food delivery marketplace, creating the most convenient way to order food – wherever you are,” said Ralf Wenzel, the Global Managing Director at HelloFood.
HelloFood was launched back in 2012, and so far has raised more than $100 million. It also recently acquired its competitor in Russia, the Delivery Club. In 2013, HelloFood obtained over $20 million funding from Investment AB Kinnevik and Phenomen Ventures and $8 million from iMENA Holdings. In February 2014, it secured $20 million from another group of investors that included Phenomen Ventures.
The current $60 million funding will be invested in HelloFood’s operations across all its markets, such as Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Morocco, Singapore, Thailand, India, Algeria, Cambodia, Vietnam, Pakistan, India, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Jordan, Chile, Lebanon, Romania, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, etc.
