Netflix Gets Better on Comcast After a Deal
Most people know Netflix: it is one of the top streaming websites in the world streaming movies and TV shows. However its performance on Comcast had been increasingly getting worse as the months go by. But in February, the performance got a little better according to the latest speed rankings of Netflix. Last February, Netflix streamed at 1.68Mbps, which was a good improvement over the 1.51Mbps in January. The average on Comcast in September was above 2Mbps, but has been decreasing consistently as months went by, to the point Netflix decided to spend some money on Comcast and get a direct connection to its network.
The deal was made official on February 23, so till now we can’t say for certain that full improvement has been implemented yet. But we definitely expect to see some improvement from March onwards. As for now Google Fiber offer the best performance at an impressive 3.74Mbps. Cablevision was the best performer in cable systems with 2.97Mbps.
Netflix requires a minimum of 0.5Mbps in order to stream videos, but 1.5Mbps is the recommended speed. 5Mbps is the standard for streaming HD quality videos, while 7Mbps is for the Super HD quality. This news is quite impressive to the Comcast users: speed is one of the most important things to have in order to enjoy your viewing experience. Other services like Verizon and AT&T aren’t as lucky as Comcast and are looking for payment from Netflix to increase their performance. Outside the US, Netflix has recently made a deal with Norway’s ISP which allows video streaming there.
Netflix has been growing, as more and more people are becoming interested in TV shows and movies. Some people don’t have the time to sit down and catch their favorite show at a specific time, that’s why Netflix has become quite popular. Whether it’s old or new, Netflix updates itself with the hottest and most loved content. There was once a point in time when Netflix was only available in the US, but now it is broadening its wings across many countries. However improvements on its services are quiet necessary so that everyone gets to experience a similar type of use experience. Having your video buffer all the time and cutting up can really become quite irritating. So you can expect to see Netflix spend some money on Verizon and AT&T in the near future in order to speed up their service delivery.
