South Africa’s Video on Demand (VoD) streaming service, ShowMax, is now available on Microsoft gaming console Xbox One. The video streaming service seems to be ever expanding the number of platforms can access its contents.
It has outed an app for Android and iOS devices allowing users to access its content on their mobile devices while on the go. The company has also rolled out apps for the Android TV and DStv Explorer platforms as well. Of course, desktop users can access it on the web, and now gaming enthusiast can view ShowMax show during their game pause sessions.
Xbox One users can download the ShowMax app from the Xbox Store to start viewing shows from VoD service.
ShowMax is said to be further exploring other channels on which it can give its viewers a wider basket of options to view its content. Ever since the VoD service launched in Kenya, it has worked hard to win over viewers, especially in the backdrop of increasing competition from international VoD service like Netflix and Amazon Prime that are also available in the country.
ShowMax winning formula is that it includes local shows as part of its package and content from the rest of the African continent. It has also partnered with local telecom company Safaricom to provide special mobile streaming data, which allows users to view ShowMax shows at subsidized rates. Kenyan users also have a convenient payment option through mobile payment service M-Pesa.
