Registrations to the Nigeria’s Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBRC) first edition of #PEBECHack are open.

The #PEBECHack is a series of Hackathons geared towards finding innovative solutions for problems at the intersection of government processes and regulations. The key focus for this hackathon is to ease the process of doing business in Nigeria.

After their usual monthly meeting at the State House, the Council reached a resolution to bring together the smartest brains in Nigeria to compete in developing a tool. This tool must promote accountability, performance tracking, and transparency in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The competing teams would develop a service management solution that will allow citizens, monitor, provide feedback, report, make complaints, and ‘blow-a-whistle’ about the quality of service received from key Federal Government Doing Business MDAs or at strategic locations such as airports, seaports, and land borders,” say Dr. Jumoke Oduwole the coordinator of the Enabling Business Environment.

Participants in the #PEBECHack competition stand a chance to win up to ₦1.5 million, among other in-kind prizes. The competition is open to Nigerians, and to register yourself, click here. The application deadline is June 6th, 2017, and the Hackathon will run for two days (June 23-24) in Lagos.#PEBECHack competition

The acting President Yemi Osinbajo, who is also the PEBEC chair had earlier on (May 1st) announced that the PEBEC Secretariat is working on bringing techies into a Hackathon that will develop a “solution for tracking reforms and getting public feedback… and enable the public to complain directly about government agencies that are making doing business difficult.

Additionally, the PEBEC Secretariat has arranged for a survey, coming in a few days, meant to gather feedback from the public on the biggest challenges they face in production, trading, and transportation in Nigeria.

The #PEBECHackathon is made possible through a partnership with Venture Garden Group, L5 Lab, Techplus, and Microsoft. For more information about this Hackathon click here, or follow it on social media (Twitter: @EBESnigeria or Facebook.com/EBESnigeria)
