DEMO Africa run in Casablanca, Morocco has concluded and has identified the top five African tech startups, who will be proceeding to the next stage of the competition, which will be held in Silicon Valley.
This run was the seventh run of DEMO Africa and its inaugural event in Morocco. Previous events have been held in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. Tech startups from across the continent were invited to submit their application to the competition, and now the finalist list is out.
The top five selected startups will be competing in the 2019 edition of the Lions@Africa Innovation Tour, which will be in Silicon Valley, San Francisco. The five startups are as follows:

DEMO Africa executive producer, Harry Hare, said: “Every year, DEMO Africa finalists get the chance of a lifetime when they showcase their innovations during the main event. They also get global exposure by networking with corporate acquirers, trade and mainstream media, venture capitalists, angel investors, and other entrepreneurs attending the conference.”
On the sideline of the DEMO Africa competition in Casablanca, the top 30 finalists were also fast-tracked into the technical review stage of the Dubai 2020 Expo Live’s Innovation Impact Grant Program.
At the same time, Tunisia’s KwaKar and Toufoula Kids, alongside Ivory Coast’s WeFlyAgri have won the French Development Agency (DFA) awards and earmarked to attend the 2018 edition of Emerging Valley and Social Inclusive Business Camp.
