The Africa-America Institute (AAI) will be holding its annual Future Leaders Legacy Fund Awards Gala come September 29, 2015. The Awards Gala is perhaps the most high-profile event to be held in New York City focusing on Africa achievements. The event is held every year to coincide with the opening week of the U.N. General Assembly.
The AAI Awards Gala has over the years grown to become one of the biggest and most anticipated annual events celebrating the achievements in Africa. The event brings together nearly 500 distinguished leaders from both the U.S. and Africa to New York City in celebration of exemplary personalities and institutions from Africa.
This year’s theme will be “Achieving Excellence through Scholarship, Opportunity, and Innovation.” The 2015 awards will honor Strive Masiyiwa, Founder and Executive Chairman of Econet Wireless, where he will be presented with the AAI 2015 Business Leader Award (confirmed).
Also up in the lineup to receive an AAI award is H.E. Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia (invited) who will walk away with the AAI 2015 Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Alumnus Award. Last but not least, the AAI 2015 Corporate Responsibility Award is also up for grabs, although the winner is yet to be announced.

That AAI Gala Awards event will be at the Gotham Hall in New York City. The proceeds made from the Gala Awards will go towards supporting the Future Leaders Legacy Fund. The event kicks off at 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm, starting off with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the Awards Ceremony.
