Do you own a Windows Phone? Are you excited and eager to have the upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update for mobile roll onto your device?
Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but chances are high you are not going to get the Creators Update. In fact, you will never get any other Windows mobile OS update ever again. This saddening revelation comes after Microsoft put out a list of all the Windows phone devices that will be eligible to get the Windows 10 Creators Update set to be released on April 25th.
Other than Microsoft’s x50 line of Windows phones, the following are the full list of device eligible to get the Windows 10 Creators Update:
- Alcatel IDOL 45
- Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL
- HP Elite x3
- Microsoft Lumia 650
- Microsoft Lumia 550
- Microsoft Lumia 640/640XL
- Microsoft Lumia 950/950XL
- SoftBank 503LV
- MouseComputer MADOSMA Q601
- VAIO Phone Biz
- Trinity NuAns NEO
From the list revealed above, it would be safe to say that the majority of Windows Phone users out there will not be getting Windows 10 Creators Update. You can take Microsoft’s Dona Sarkar’s words for it:
“Devices not on this list will not officially receive the Windows 10 Creators Update nor will they receive any future builds from our Development Branch that we release as part of the Windows Insider Program. However, Windows Insiders who have devices not on this list can still keep these devices on the Windows 10 Creators Update at their own risk knowing that it’s unsupported.”
If you are one of the many affected Windows Phone device user, you might consider getting a new phone from the list mentioned above. That is if you must stay within the Windows mobile OS platform.
