Now This Is Insane! Samsung Prepping A Gigantic 18.4-inched Tablet Launch

If the talk at SamMobile is anything to go by, Samsung Electronics could be raising the bar for the tablet size with its next new tablet release in the market. Credible rumor has it that Samsung is currently working on a gigantic 18.4-inched tablet, won’t that be insanely wonderful?

According to the information that we’ve received, the SM-T670, which is codenamed ‘Tahoe’, is an Android 5.1 Lollipop-based tablet with an 18.4-inch display. It will feature a TFT LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, an octa-core 64-bit 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a microSD card slot (supporting up to 128GB card), and a 5,700mAh battery. It will also come with an 8MP primary camera and a 2.1MP secondary camera. It will be 451.8mm wide, 275.8mm tall, and 11.9mm thick.” – writes SamMobile.

For Samsung, it has been a teeth-and-claws fight to claim and maintain dominance in the Android market space in both smartphone and tablet markets. If or when Samsung does launch the 18.4-inched tablet, it will further carve out a new space for itself in the tablet market and will probably become a monopoly for a while.

Judging by the specs put forth by SamMobile above, the 18.4-inch display will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080. This is hardly a top-tier screen resolution and for a device with a screen size bordering 20 inches, the images will look somewhat grainy. The company probably decided on such a lower resolution to make the gigantic tablet, less ‘gigantically expensive’. It might be worth mentioning that the 12-inched Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 comes with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

There is still no official confirmation of when Samsung will be launching this insanely big tablet into the market. Perhaps it could be at the upcoming yearly IFA electronics show, which will be held in Berlin, German in September.
