Did you know, without Blue, there will be no Green?
‘I don’t mean the colors, well colors, just not color…colors J’. In this sense; if Earth didn’t have this big mass of Blue water (oceans and seas), there would be no plant life. No plant life means no animals. Earth will be another big barren round big mass of rock moving around the Sun, year in year out. The science explanation of it is for another platform among the science journals.
The bottom line is, drinking water is becoming scarce as human population increases and human utility for clean water is also growing. It is just basic economics really; the more the demand, the more scarce a commodity becomes and the higher its prices skyrockets.
Well, there an Austrian Industrial designer Kristof Retezar, has come up with a technology that can recycle clean drinkable water from thin air. This technology could find numerous and life-saving application in areas with scarce fresh water supply.
Retezar and his team first (Fontus) bid to get crowd-funding on Indiegogo raise $345,000 surpassing their initial target of $30,000. The campaign had about 1,500 backers. The team now says they are improving their prototypes and their water condensing technology will be availed to independent lab testing to ensure its safe for consumption.
Retezar and team currently have two prototypes:
Fontus Airo: makes drinking water while stationary
Fontus Ryde: can make drinking water from the air flow it gets while moving.
The latter can be attached to your bike or car, and as you move. It makes water out of the thin air; and never shall you feel thirsty again.
