Personally I think the world has gotten obsessed and crazy with taking pictures of oneself (selfies) and posting them all over online. To highlight just how much selfie-craze the world has become, just look at that song by The Chainsmokers; a song all about selfie “Let Me Take A #Selfie,” and what a hit it became.
Moving on, people felt stretching their arms out to take a picture with the front camera on their camera phone was just not good enough. They had to hold their phones even further out from their bodies with a stick. Thus, the invention of a selfie stick.
As if that was not over-the-top-crazy, now people need to take pictures of themselves while they are eating, and here cometh the selfie spoon. The selfie spoon is your typical spoon but with an elongated handle. At the end of the long handle, you can attach your camera phone and take ridiculous pictures of yourself while you are eating.
A reasonable person would be asking him/herself: “Why would I want people see pictures of me with a mouthful of food. Isn’t that considered bad table etiquette?”
The brainchild of the selfie spoon is General Mills in their infomercial for promoting their brand Cinnamon Toast Crunch. According to General Mills, the selfie spoon is the solution you have been waiting for, during those ‘difficult’ moments of dilemma. When you have to choose between eating your breakfast, and letting your social media ‘friends’ know what type of meal you are taking.
