USBACC announces confirmed speakers at Africa Business Forum & OTC African Delegation Reception

The U.S. Bilateral African Chamber of Commerce (USBACC) announced the confirmed speakers for the new event, USBACC Africa Business Forum, which will debut on Wednesday, 6 May 2015, during the week of the Offshore Technology Conference.

The event will bring together Africa business experts, leaders, high level officials, CEO’s, government representatives from Africa and other institutions for an open discussion on: energy, security, oil prices, local content and developing business in Africa.

The vision of the forum is to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue about doing business in Africa and promote inclusive growth between American and African SMEs. Attendees will also have a unique opportunity to network and create strategic partnerships for meeting today’s challenges in Africa.

Confirmed speakers for the USBACC Africa Business Forum are

On the Accelerating Growth in Africa’s Power Sector panel s Kusum Kavia, the President of CAI – Combustion Associates Inc. engineering and manufacturing company based in Corona, California that has done several successful projects in Africa related to power generation.

On the Doing Business in Angola Panel is Alexandre Chequer the co-head of the Global Industry team at Mayer Brown. Chequer focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, infrastructure development in Latin America and Africa.

On the Local Content & Corporate Social Responsibility Panel is Kas de Carvalho is the Director of International Development for LCF Group, an Angolan International Law firm focused on Local Content.

On the Boko Haram & Security Issues Panel is Michael Nwankpa is an Academic Visiting Scholar at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, at Rice University and a researcher at the University of Roehampton, London at the Crucible Centre for Human Rights Research.

Donald Rusk and Robert Bertagne are the Directors of Petromarex, a Houston based consulting group of senior geologists with a collective experience of over 100 years in the petroleum exploration business and with exposure to West African Petroleum geology since the mid-sixties. Their consulting group has been instrumental in the discoveries along the Mozambique Channel and several other discoveries in East Africa.

There will be more speakers and topic that will be announced later.

In addition, USBACC will host an African Delegation Reception to welcome delegates attending the Offshore Technology Conference; the event will give attendees the opportunity to meet with other energy executives from Africa and confer on new emerging markets in the Oil and Gas industry and various developing sectors, network and learn how to capitalize on the growth and profitability of the energy industry in Africa.
