If you’re looking to start your own construction company, it can be difficult knowing exactly what pieces of equipment you’re going to need. You want enough tools to successfully get your business off the ground, but you don’t want to spend unnecessary money buying the non-essentials.
The construction industry is forever changing, so it’s important to stay up to date with the latest advances. However, there are some staple pieces of equipment that every construction company is going to need in order to be successful and sufficient alongside manpower.
Personal Protective Equipment
It’s not only helpful to have personal protective equipment on your construction site, but it’s a necessity. This includes things like hard hats, goggles, masks, gloves, and high-vis safety outerwear. These should be supplied to every one of your employees as well as any visitors to the site.
Steel Rods
A steel rod is used to reinforce concrete in a variety of constructions, including building, bridges, roads, towers, and pipelines. Stainless steel rods are essential pieces of equipment to keep the concrete structures stable and upright. They may be used for decorative and aesthetic purposes as well.
Mixers
It’s likely that you will need a number of mixers on your construction site. They are used to combine materials for production of large batches of concrete. There are multiple types of mixers, including smaller heavy-duty, drum, and mechanical mixers.
Cranes
Cranes are a large investment, but they are worth getting. You will save time and money in the long-run by having a crane on your site. They are required for construction of tall buildings, towers, and bridges to lift and lower essential materials. They can also be used to transport materials from one area to another.
Excavators
Excavators are another construction necessity. Also known as diggers, they are commonly used to remove materials from the ground to make way for building foundations. There are multiple types, but the most popular choice is the crawler excavator that has a large scooping panel which makes it easy to dig deep into the ground.
Drills
Having a number of high-quality drills is key to the success of your construction business. Most, if not all, of your jobs will probably require you to drill into the ground. Make sure you buy several different kinds including hammer and rotary drills, as each one has unique advantages and uses.
Dump Trucks
Dump trucks are used to move pieces of earth and other materials to make room for constructions. There are several available varieties, with the most common ones being
Articulated dump trucks that carry large and heavy amounts of material on construction and mining sites
Transfer dump trucks which are used to carry moveable cargo
Side-dump trucks which are smaller vehicles that can unload (dump) materials quickly and easily
Ladders
One of the more affordable pieces of equipment you need for your construction company is the ladder. For obvious reasons, a ladder is necessary to reach significant heights. Look out for a platform ladder that enables your employees to stay at the top of the ladder safely for long periods of time.
