Leading Innovation: Juliana Rotich Noted as “Top Newsmakers of Africa”
The female presence and contributions can oftentimes be ignored in many industries, from technology to healthcare to business to politics, but Juliana Rotich is one woman the world can’t ignore. The IT professional and co-founder of Ushahidi, Rotich is also the co-developer of BRCK, an internet connectivity device developed in Nairobi, Keynya. This device basically serves as a lifesaver for areas where Web speed and connection are of prime need. It can switch between Wi-Fi and 3G, can connect to up to 20 devices and is set for release in 2014.
It’s no wonder Rotich made the list of IT News Africa’s “Top Newsmakers,” joining the ranks of Hopstop.com founder Chinedu Echeruo and Nigeria’s Minister of Communication Technology, Omobola Johnson.
