How to Create Invisible Folder on Windows PC

by Roveen

Have you ever found yourself wishing that you could literally hide folders on your desktop? Our PCs are incredibly personal to us, and thus, we often wish that we could hide some folders and files that we have on them from prying eyes, especially when we do not want to deny someone complete access to our computer.

Sure, you can use passwords to protect your file, but what if the computer is shared? How do you maintain further privacy on your folders without denying the other person access to the PC? Easy – create an invisible folder.

Below we look at ways to create invisible folders for files you want hidden.

  1. First, right-click on the empty desktop, then create a new folder.
  2. Then, hold down on the Alt key as you type in 0160 and click enter. Ensure you use numbers on the numeric keypad and not those at the top of the keyboard.
  3. Once you do that, you will find that the name of the folder will be gone.
  4. Once the name is gone, right-click on the folder again the scroll down to properties.
  5. Click on properties, then click on customize.
  6. Scroll down on the customize tab, and you will see a ‘change icon’ option.
  7. Click on it and then change the icon into one of the blank icon options. Select the blank icon and then click okay.
  8. And just like that, you have created a new invisible folder.
