Founded by Brian Bosire and Victor Shikoli, HydroIQ is a Kenyan startup that seeks to make smart-water distribution powered by intelligence from technologies such as the GPS and the internet to monitor existing water supply to neighborhoods and connect people to waters and bill them automatically via their mobile devices.
HydroIQ won the African startup of the year prize at the 2018 African Startup of the Year competition held last month in Casablanca, Morocco. The competition received submissions from over 600 startups from across the continent.
HydroIQ had to fight tooth and nails to bag the award. The startup walked home with 10,000 Euros cash prize and an additional 10,000 Euro as a Visibility pack by Startup.info.
