According to the BBC, a pro-Assad hacker group named the Syrian Electronic Army hacked into the United States Army website. In a bid to contain the situation and prevent much data breach, the U.S. Army has been forced to take down the website.

The Syrian Electronic Army is said to support the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. This comes after another hacking attacks said to have been conducted by Chinese hackers on the US federal government computers last week. The alleged Chinese hack led to the possible compromise of data on four million employees.

China came out refuting the hacking accusations against it by the U.S. terming the allegation as “not responsible, and counterproductive.”

The site in question, army.mil, serves as the shop from for the United States military, and the fact that insurgents arm-twisted the military to take it down is quite embarrassing for a country like the USA.
