In The Driver Seat – A Collaboration With Easy Taxi AND Louis Nderi

A visual journey that documents the lives and experiences of taxi drivers all over Nairobi.

Louis Nderi in collaboration with Easy Taxi will for the next two weeks be hosting a photography exhibition at Shifteye Gallery.

This photo exhibition is not your ordinary exhibition – it is a visual journey that documents the lives and experiences of taxi drivers all over Nairobi. For most of us, the taxi experience begins when you step into the vehicle and ends when you step out. But have you ever wondered what these drivers get up to when the passengers aren’t there?

Through these photos, we hope to offer you a glimpse into the life and times of these drivers and that they will serve as a beautiful memoir of the brave, unique, and beautiful men and women behind the wheel that transport Nairobi’s citizen’s day in and day out.

The Exhibition opens on the 27th of February from 5pm to 11pm and will run until the 13th of March. The Shifteye Gallery that is located at The Priory Place on the ground floor on Argwings Kodhek Road in Kilimani.

How Easy Taxi works

After downloading the Easy Taxi global app –available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices– passengers confirm their pickup point and order a cab with a single click. In seconds a confirmation screen shows the name, photo and car model/plate of their pre-screened taxi driver plus the map with the real-time position of the vehicle. Options like in-app payment, corporate accounts, favorite addresses, selection of service features, special discounts, passenger-driver messaging and ride history are available according to location.

Easy Taxi was launched in Brazil in 2011. It is now one of the largest taxi booking apps in the world, connecting drivers and passengers in a fast, safe and covenient. Easy Taxi operates in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. It has a global network of over 400,000 drivers and 17 million passengers.
