Just because the Easter holidays are over doesn’t mean that we have to stop the festivities, especially if you’re a foodie! April is full of special dates that are dedicated enjoying some great food dishesthat is according to the food calendar for 2015. Here are some dates that we at hellofood think you should remember this month to enjoy a little more of these dishes on their special day!
April 12th – Is dedicated to the grilled cheese sandwich – This is a favorite for many kids to adults alike. Grilled cheese sandwiches could possibly be the best things since…well since sliced bread! Also known as toasted cheese sandwich, is a great meal that can be enjoyed whether for breakfast, lunch or even a light dinner. It is very simple to prepare and could very well possibly be the tastiest sandwiches of them all.
April 16thIs Eggs Benedict day! – Described by one blogger as the ‘Best American Breakfast with the Least American Name’Eggs Benedictis a combination of crispy bacon, poached eggs and some buttered toast. Generally anything that includes eggs and bacon is considered all kinds of delicious as far as I’m concerned and this one is right there at the top of any egg recipe.
April 19th is Garlic day. Garlic is also referred to as the stinking rose. On this day, you are welcome to use excess amounts of garlic in just about everything. Now, although it is known to make food flavorsome when cooked, too much consumption of it leaves you with a very distinct odor. So for the sake of others, perhaps this is one of those foods that you can consume in moderation.
April 22nd is Jelly Bean day – These little treats are such a joy to eat and have a longer shelf life than any other confectionary candy. It is believed that 16 billion jelly beans are manufactured around the Easter time in Western countries which is the equivalent to circling the earth 3 times! Another interesting fact about jelly beans is that in the early 20th century, a “jelly-bean” was slang for a man of style and no substance!
And finally, April 30th is National Raisin day–Dried grapes werediscovered by accident in 1873 when a hot spell in California withered grapes in a vine, and thus raisins came to be. California is known to be the world’s largest producer of raisins and there general consumption has lots of health benefits such as supplying energy, enhance mouth health and they are also known to contribute towards healthy weight gain.
