When it comes to camera phones, Google Pixel is one of the best phones out there in the market. While the hardware behind its great photos and video recording is solid, that good quality is also largely dependent on Google’s machine learning and general coding prowess. All that wizardry is stored within the Google Camera app, the software that makes the ‘picture perfect’.
Huawei P30 Pro also has the same AI running on its camera. That is what is purported to be processing a snap of the moon and give you highly detailed picture under the Moon Mode shots. More details on that, at this link.
The Google Camera app is just an app; albeit designed for the Google Pixel. But if you could install it on any Android device out there, you will be giving that device the same picture processing power as that found in Pixel. Even if the hardware might not be necessarily at par.
How to install Pixel’s Google Camera app on any Android device
Developers from XDA have come up with a hack that can enable the Google Camera app to be installed on any Android device. You also don’t need to root your device or perform some extreme modding for the app to work; it works on virtually any Android device.
Understandably, you will not get the 100% Pixel camera experience; as there is a lack of hardware factor. But it will drastically improve on the quality of pictures and videos taken on your phone.
System Requirement
Your device must be running Android 7.0 or later
You must enable sideloading on your device
With the above requirements met, you now need to head to the XDA download page and download the Google camera mod. That is after locating your device on the list of supported devices provided therein.
After downloading the APK installer file, tap on it to install. When the installation is complete, you can now try out the Google Camera app. You will have to grant the app some few permissions when prompted, after doing that, the main interface will appear.
The main interface will have basic camera settings such as HDR, flash, and timer. You will also have the ability to quickly change camera modes by simply tapping on the tabs located at the bottom.
