Following a BBC sponsored ‘hackathon’ that took place in Nairobi, early this month. Two Kenyan tech innovation groups, Go Sheng Services and Ongair were selected from a group of 13 teams hailing from across African and U.S.

The two teams have earned themselves a position for helping BBC reach out to the young African audience using social media networks and other digital platforms. The team will be given financial support to pilot and implement a test prototype program that the BBC intends to run for the next six months.

Dmitry Shishkin, BBC World Service Group digital development editor and judging panelist has this to say:
