Personally, I am one of those people who pro-read best, after hitting the ‘Send’ button. I am also certain there are many people out there that can relate to this. That is why our tech savviness makes us hunt for the latest and bests messaging apps that allow us to take back text messages once we’ve sent them. You probably got a list of such apps already, but you can add Privates app to that list.
Privates (the name sounds corny, don’t you think?) is a new messenger developed by Dr. Isaac Datikashvili whose original intention was to use the app for medical recording purpose. Privates allows users to delete or recall back messages already sent, but not yet read by the recipient. It also disables the recipient from taking screenshots of the messages, and if there were attempts to screenshot the message, the app will notify the sender about it.
Once the recipient has opened the message, Privates will not be able to delete the sent message. Meaning, as a sender you must use Privates as soon as possible after hitting the ‘Send’ button, hoping the recipient will take time before checking on their inbox.
Privates is currently available only for iOS devices while its version for Android and Windows is said to be a current work in progress. Users get three levels of security with Privates; Mild, Wild, and Insane provided the recipient has not yet read the sent message.
Dr. Datikashvili told the Metro.co.uk, “I’m very honest about that but it’s better than anything else at maintaining privacy. It’s not possible but it’s virtually impossible for one person to screen grab or save anything if the security setting is high.
We originally were going to call it ‘Private’ or ‘Keep Your Messaging Private’ and we didn’t really think about what it meant when we added the ‘s’. It’s only when someone mentioned the double-meaning of privates that we realized.”
