US Facebook Users, To Start Sending Money Via The Messenger App
The social network giant, Facebook has made the announcement that it will be raising the bar on its Messenger app. User will now not only be able to send instant messages, make calls and share pictures, but also, they will be able to transfer money from one user to the other, very soon.
The social network said that US-based users will soon be able to link the Messenger app with their debit card thus be able to send money as quickly as they send instant messages via the app. The money transactions will be encrypted, as the company already has had a great deal of experience in the millions of transactions per day carried on the social network. Transactions by advertisers and gamers on the platform.
The money-sending-receiving feature will be rolled out on the Facebook Messenger within the next few months. It will be available on Android and iOS platform as well as on desktop.
In a statement, Facebook said, “Incorporating security best practices into our payments business has always been a top priority. These payment systems are kept in a secured environment that is separate from other parts of the Facebook network, and that receive additional monitoring and control. A team of anti-fraud specialist monitor for suspicious purchase activity to help keep accounts safe.”
The services will also incorporate PIN as a security measure, in addition to the option of users using Apple’s Touch ID. Facebook seems to be following in the footsteps of Snapchat, which rolled out this service on its messaging app last year.
