You Can Now Send and Receive Money Via Twitter
Barclays has announced that it is launching a service called Pingit for Twitter using which, users will be able to send and receive money using their Twitter handles. Pingit is an app which is available on Android and iOS. The company says that more than £1 billion have already been transferred using this service.
The sender and receiver should have an account on Twitter to avail the services of Pingit. Barclays has not put the condition of having a bank account with it. All you have to do is to enter your Twitter username in the service to get registered and you can send or receive money to anyone via Pingit.
In 2012, Barclays announced the Pingit service for UK customers. A user can connect its mobile number, current account in Barclays bank to avail the service. Pingit got popular within a few days.
The service is secure and so far, there is not a single dispute registered. Barclays says that it will expand its payment service via Twitter for its customers outside the UK.
The transaction limit for Pingit service is between £1 and £300 with a maximum of £5,000 per day.
Payments is a hot domain these days. PayPal has long dominated the payments world but now, Apple, Google, Facebook, Alibaba are tapping into it. Apple has recently rolled out its NFC payment feature with iPhone 6 and its own payment method which is dubbed as Apple Pay.
