How to Change Default Video Player in Android

We play videos on our phones daily. In Android phones, video watching experience is great. This experience largely depends upon the kind of video player you choose to play video. Many video players have certain features and effects which enhance the quality of the video. Sometimes it happens that a certain video player amplifies the sound of the video which helps a lot in many cases. Default video player in Android is set to the in-built app which comes pre-loaded in Android. Many  users want to change their default video player in Android because the inbuilt app is not much effective. The sound is low and resolution could not be customized. You will also want to change default video player in Android in case you made some video player your default player sometime in the past. Whatever the reason may be, you can always change default video player in Android. The forthcoming lines shows exactly how to do it.

For Latest Android Versions

In order to change the video player in Android, launch settings in your Android phone.

If you are using the latest version of Android (Lollipop), scroll down and you will see the “Default Applications” option under the “Applications” tab.

Screenshot_2016-03-23-15-51-50Here, you will see your default video player app. In the image shown above, there is no app as I have no video player. But if you have set a default video player, you will see that app. Just tap the “Clear Defaults” option.

Another Way to Change Default App

Another way to change default video player Android involves going to settings and finding the app which is currently the default app and then changing it.

Go to Settings in your Android device.

Now go to Application Manager by scrolling down and finding the “Applications” tab.

Now under the “Downloaded” or “SD Card” or “All” tab, find the app which is currently being used as your default video player app.

Tap the app and scroll down. You will see  “Clear Defaults” option. This option will be enabled for tap if that app is actually being used as your default video player.

In the image above, the option “Clear Defaults” is greyed out because my device is not using any app as default video player.

Using this method you can change any default app in your phone. You can change default browser, music player, document opener and other default apps.

The Third Way

Another easy way to change video player in Android involves playing a little bit with settings. This option is applicable to the phones with older Android versions.

Just go to Settings in your Android phone.

Go to the “Applications” section and head over to “Manage” section.

Now find the default video player. Tap it and tap the “Clear default” option.
