Janel Martinez, a New York-based digital editor and producer, decided she wanted a place on the Web for Latina women of African descent to find images, stories and perspectives that embodied their diversity and culture. From this, AintILatina.com was born.

The 20-something native of Honduras has worked for media publications including Black Enterprise and Latina magazine and brings her experience as a lifestyle and tech enthusiast and journalist to helm the site. Martinez, a Syracuse University grad, has already gotten notice in the industry, recognized by Digital Sisterhood Network, a global organization for women in technology, among the top ‘Digital Sisters of the Year.

AintILatina.com touts itself as being “created by an Afro-Latina for Afro-Latinas.” Founded to fill a void in the representation of millennial Latinas in both mainstream as well as Spanish-language media, Martinez has indeed created a portal where young women can celebrate their diversity via celebrity news, career advice, lifestyle coverage and exclusive interviews with today’s hottest Latinas.

Follow AintILatina.com on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and check us out soon for our one-on-one interview with Martinez on what inspired her, how she got started and tips for budding Web entrepreneurs.
