Google Working On Tablets That Can See In 3D

Google is planning big surprises for its users. Project Tango is the name of this prototype tablet by Google. This prototype has been released by Google for Android developers to develop Android applications that can map 3D images. These are true 3D images which also show the depth of the 2D images that are created.

 Device:

It is a regular looking 5” android phone with some extra features. The device is a prototype and is not yet available for sale. It has 3 objects that can detect 3D. There is a high resolution camera and an infrared transmitter and receiver and a low resolution motion sensing camera. The high resolution camera is for 2D images, the infrared device is to measure the depth of objects and the second camera is focused on far objects and used as a motion sensor and all these three combine to give a full 3D image. From this you can do things like model a room in 3D with all its measurements (like depth).

Another function for this is also the use of depth sensor. Basically, the device sends blasts off IR radiations that can be seen from the camera like a Sci-fi thing, and in just a matter of seconds you can get all the measurements.

There are also applications that create the real time model immediately with the help of IR and motion sensor.

As this thing is just a prototype, it is not for sale, and it is made only for the developers to develop some new apps that relate to 3D image processing, 3D image modeling and use of motion sensors as well as infrared sensors. It will be interesting to see how the developers are going to use this cool technology for the entertainment of customers.
