Rumours Has It Microsoft Will Be Launching A Bigger Surface Device Today In NYC

Microsoft is having a Surface-themed event today in New York, and a lot of stakeholders have been hearing or spreading rumours about the unveiling of a new and small Surface device. Hence, at today’s Microsoft event people were expecting the unveiling of the Surface Mini as it has been referred to in the media.

However, this may not be the case if publication done by Computerworld is anything to go by. Instead of the rumoured 7 or 8 inched display, Computerworld says that Microsoft will be unveiling a bigger version of the Surface device; an increase of the Surface Pro’s screen. Should these rumours turn out to be true, then the new Surface device will spot a 12 inched display.

The pitch for this bigger Surface is that the device can function as a table or as an ultra-light notebook. The earlier expectation of a Surface Mini was presumed to be similar to Microsoft’s now Surface 2; the 2nd generation Surface RT, which functions as a tablet with a display of 10.6 inches, running Windows RT with colourful tiles features and running new ecosystem of apps.

By the end of today, we can assume we will see a new, bigger Surface Pro launched by Microsoft in New York. There have been some reports from users that the Surface Pro has a display too small for main computing purposes unless, you connect it to an external display. Even then, you will still be having quite a modest main screen to work with.

Hence with the rumoured larger Surface with 12 inched screen, users are expected to have an enhanced user experience on the Surface device, theoretically speaking of course. We’ll have to wait till the end of the day, to see and for some of us to touch the new device to know. The Microsoft’s event will kick off today at 11 a.m EDT in New York.
